Well, different places... sometimes just a street cafe, other variant is a "steep" restaurant and wine instead of coffee...

Another stereotype, Rob. Of course, Vodka is sort of "national drink", but that doesn't mean we don't drink wine!

I suggest, most of the jokes which are not based on play-upon-words, are international. When it comes to play-upon-words, it's, in most cases, impossible to translate them from one language to another...

Don't fret Sheena, I only understand my own words half of the time. I don't know why but I laughed at Mr. Hedgehog. Perhaps because I've had conversations just like that.

Sheena - I laughed heartily when I read your response. Please don't think I'm being nasty but I have several Russian children in my grade 5 class (as well as many other ESL students from around the world). I only realized this year how difficult humour can be to translate! And, I only realized this year how much of our humour (day to day humour anyway) is based on wordplay.
