Amen, if no one steers the ship, ya end up playing Freebird all night, or calling yourself Shutup.

Jeff, they had fans? Go figure.
I'm just happy to be here.

The Outlaws

Those who don't believe me, find you souls and set them free
Those who do, believe and love, as time will be your key
Time and time again I've thanked them for a piece of mind
They helped me find myself amongst the music and the rhyme that enchants you there

Green grass and high tides forever
Castles of stone soul and glory
Lost faces say we adore you
As kings and queens bow and play for you

Just an FYI on the earlier reference/sad attempt at a joke

The Blueburst sounds as great as it looks! The band played nice and tight. I got there in the middle of the first set so I guess I missed Freebird. LOL

Steve, it was great seeing you again. Gary, it was nice to meet you as well. We could have talked Ricks all night.

"we could all bring a bass and get up on stage and jam out on Spinal Tap Big Bottom"

HA! My bass/guitar/mandolin-playing friend at college wants us to cover this. It would be fun to say the least . . .

As for "Freebird", I'm from Savannah, Georgia. That song is playing freaking 24/7 . . . I wouldn't be surprised if the hip-hop stations in town played it as well . . . as such, I make an effort to shout "Freebird" at least once at every concert, dance, or large event with music, just to keep up the tradition of being an incredibly obnoxious audience-member.

"'Cuz ah'm as freeeeeeee as a biiiird noooowwwww . . . and this biiiiird you cannot chaaaaaaange whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, and this biiiiiird you cannot cha-ee-a-ee-a-ee-ange!!!!"

Hi Ken & Steve, fun night had by all! Best looking barmaid in Michigan, collectible!

Steve, great band you got there. The Blue-burst dominated the stage presence. The white pick-guard was a striking contrast to the radiant blue. I was also surprised by the big sound coming from that little lady. Once the sound guy got all the cabs working,BOOM! The Fender fiver sounded much better the second time you fired her up. Loved the 12'r Hamer as well. The Pink Floyd was perhaps my favorite of the evening, well done!

Hey Ken, pleasure was mine. Very kind of you to bring the case latch for the 63. Your right, if it were not for a Rickenbacker interrupting, we could have talked more Rickenbacker. Well the dancing barmaid didn't help either. Did I mention, Oh Baby!

Steve, if I may say, your group was enjoyable to watch as well as hear. Every member is strong and appear to be having fun. Many players often seem bored or angry. Not yours, they looked to be happy to be jamming and supporting each other with humor and grace. Nice work!

To all I must say, this forum is a special place. I never met Steve or Ken, nor had I ever been to Ricks bar in Redford. Shortly after entering the joint I felt at home and surrounded by buds thanks to the power of the forum and the people involved. I hope we all can appreciate what a wonderful device this place can be, take care of it and each other. ( step off soapbox and bow )

Dang! I missed "Freebird" too!

Gary, I appreciate that Image
I know what you mean, there is a certain fellowship among forum members...and thanks for the compliments on the experience, that's the kind of feedback I like to hear! Image
We'll be back there for sure!
And even if you would have shown up for soundcheck, you would have missed "Freebird"....because we don't play it! Image
We have been known to bust out "Simple Man" or "Sweet Home"...but that bartender would have had to request it. Image

I'm working on it, it's gonna be a game-time decision. I'll know the week of the event.
