Hi all,

This is my first post, but have been visting the board since I decided to buy a new 4003. I got it two weeks ago, Midnight Blue, born in Dec 2002. I had questions about strings, flats in particular, and after a bit of reading here I ordered some Pyramid Golds and installed them as soon as I took the bass out of its case. I couldn't be more pleased with the tone- just what I was looking for. The bass is flawless, I love how it plays and I find myself using a pick more, a skill that I have been trying to hone but always found difficult. I guess the pickup cover makes it a bit easier for me. I was able to break it in at rehearsal last week and I couldn't be more impressed. This is the bass I have been looking for.

Well...that's it. Thanks for listening (reading :-) and thanks for all of the info that can be found here.

Thanks for your post Robert and congratulations on the 4003 Midnight Blue.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I've been hooked on Rickenbackers since 1973 ... I own 9 basses ... but my ric's are my favorites ...

There is no substitute for Rickenbacker ...

yes ... this is a more civilized forum ... some forums on the internet are adversarial ... you get a lot of "I am right and you are wrong" ... or people get mad because they don't like an opinion or topic ...

This forum is definately civilized ... we don't all agree .. but we don't get mad at those with different opinions ...

Welcome! Sounds like you got a beauty!

In the very rare circumstance that someone acts a bit less than civilized, our admirable host and moderator quickly and fairly straightens things out.

But it almost never happens.

" congrats'on your new "obsession"!!(and believe me my friend,..you will get obsessed)"

I can vouch for that. I wanted a 4001, got 4003 instead..plus a 360/12 the shape of which I didnt like too much but now prefer to the 330 and then I "found" a 370 and have grown to like the 650 shape...
The only question is...... How can I justify another rick.. The answer is.."why should I justify it at all ?"

Obsession.... maybe just a little

John
