Has this one been discussed before?

Post by the_55th_beatle »

I was just 'googling' around when I came across this page -
http://www.mikekennedy.com/Gear.htm

Whilst scrolling down this page I was admiring the gentleman's very nice collection of guitars, but I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the pic of last guitar he has listed on his page...
http://www.mikekennedy.com/images/EarlyRoseMorris12.jpg

Described by him as an "early Rose Morris Rickenbacker Export 12", the guitar looks like it's a mapleglo model '1998', but it has 12 strings, a gold pickguard and no 'blend' control...
I do not recall ever seeing such a Rickenbacker before, and it's also not listed on e.g. Björn Eriksson's 'Rickenbacker Models Library', so I'm wondering if this guitar is an original example & if this one has been discussed here before?

Yes, Poor Mike. These pictures were taken right before he tragically fell off of the roof of that Brooklyn apartment building with the Les Paul and Broadcaster in his hands. No one knows what became of his collection...

Looks like either a balanced input panel jack or possibly a DIN jack.

Erm....sorry to disturb you guys, but I was wondering if somebody might have also something to say about the mapleglo Rick for which I had actually opened this thread...

The one on the bottom has obviously been modded for the worse- hopefully it's not this one:

Thanks for posting that pic, Tony - that could very well be the same guitar. Do you have some info about this particular example, e.g. what is the official model-designation of this 12-string, 3-pickup Rick?

No info. I lifted it from John Williams' site.

Others on the board should know something about it- it's apparently got tortoise-shell binding, though.
