Legit?

What do you think about this one?
The seller says 4001 1979.

No binding with triangle inlays??

A "S" model with those inlays?

Strange

Maybe the owner had the binding removed and the body contoured. I like the binding, but if I had a chance to get rid of it (like in this pic) I'd do it.

The pic above looks like someone removed the binding and contoured the body. Why do people do that? and why don't we ever see that done to a Les Paul?

I love the binding. That is why I don't have a v63. Give me binding and fancy inlays and glossy finish and shiny chrome... sexy. I'm shallow, I know.

I'd like full width MOP inlays on my v63.

I kinda like the looks of it....let me study it a bit more....

The pup surround corners look too sharp near the bridge. Also the knob placement doesn't look quite right. The pickguard is too close to the surround.

It looks like a sanded down 4001 to me as well. I want a Macca bass...

Here's a pic for Ilan's preferred taste...

Sanded down 4001 with an aftermarket/repro guard would be my guess. I too prefer the binding.

Just talked to the owner. The binding was removed some years ago. What a waste:-(

He didn´t know this before he mailed the pics to Rickenbacker. He bought it like this.
