JH 96 signature in TRC

Post by throw_this_away »

Was tweaking the truss rods on my 96' 4003 last night and I noticed that JH 96 was signed in pencil on the inside of the TRC. Also, the TR cavity is marked with D-4.

You get an infinite amount of factory-worker graffiti all over Ric basses.

Amongst others, I've found in mine:

"4001 BG NANCY" - 72 4001
"SPECIAL JG KATRINA" - 96 4003S
"JG TP" - 83 4003
"4004 TR" - 2004 4004Cii

It presume it has something to do with whoever handled the instruments in the factory, on whatever shift.

Yeah, but JH? Could it be...the man himself personally handled, selected, or inspected John's bass? Now you can put it on Ebay with a $5200.00 price tag, John!

Henny-have you named your '96 Katrina? I always liked that name. I had a girlfriend named Katrina when I was 18. Nice girl. Too bad that Hurricane had to ruin the name.

Sure have.

If Katrina still works at RIC, she now has a sister.
