Any extra HB-1 p/u's laying around?
I posted in the "Wanted Forum" but since I know that I don't always check there (and possibly others do the same) I thought I'd post here as well.
Does anyone have a HB-1 p/u laying around that they'd like to part with? Chrome or gold it doesn't matter as long as it works. Thanks.

When I swapped the black hardware on my TransGreen Cii I had some issues fitting the p/u surrounds and I carefully trimmed the black vinyl-ish material on the p/u and may have nicked the winding. I must not have been careful enough!
Anyway, I haven't declared the p/u dead yet but it doesn't look good. I have a gig next weekend so I have to get a replacement quickly......I can get new but have blown a silly amount of cash lately.

pretty much every 4004 that I have seen has the holes for the hb1 pickups too small ... I enlarged them on my 4004L5 ... I was able to make do with my the holes on my 4004ci5 ... and when I do a 4-2-5 conversion I don't enlarge the holes either ... I tried grinding down a pickup when I put a toaster in then neck on my 4004L ... then I realized it is a lot easier to make a wood hole bigger than it is to make a metal pickup smaller ...
Also when Ric redesigns the 4004CII5 pickups they might consider using the new pickups on the 4004 4 string models as well because the 4004 4 string models have the E and G strings right on the edge of the effective range of the hb1 pickups and if the bridge is 1/16" or 1/8" off you can have a volume dropoff on a string ... so why not use pickups that are wider than they need to be instead of pickups that are just barely wide enough ...

Brian, e-mail me. I just posted a pair of chrome HB1s for sale. And I will sell them separately.

Oh well. That's what I get for being to busy at work to have posted it sooner! Good luck with the install.

Well, I'm a spaz and like to get things fixed right away when something is wrong....I'm not much for patience.
If you don't have any luck getting rid of them in the next few weeks drop me an email. I like having spare parts laying around but I'm a tad short on cash at the moment due to getting my car ready for summer and tax season. Just let me know because I'll probably forget.
