White 4001, Checker Binding

Post by rickaddict »

Sorry about this!

But, now that I have your attention... Image

I remember seeing photos of a white 4001 with checker binding posted here once upon a time. Does anybody own this bass and/or photos of it that they could post?

Oh. Thanks, guys. Did it look nice?!

My first Rick(1980 4001 White...now Mucasglo) has an appointment with the Curmudgeon. My mind is mostly made up, but I'm still having some last minute ideas.

Maurice Gibb had one that someone posted back here a while back, and there was a lovely White May 73 with c/b that was posted here when it was for sale on eBay about 3 years ago.

Do doublenecks count?? Mike Parks had this 4080 a few years ago:

Image

The description from his website:

4080 WHT This odd doubleneck features checkered binding around the body... guess it must of been an early 80's special order. Some finish checking, original case. Serial #VK 2901 (November 1982)
Body closeup SOLD

Cool 4080, you cant quite make out the Check binding in the pic though. But apparently they did make them.

Yeah, it's only a 4080/6. You would only put checkered binding on a /12!
