I had to change rig and needed something that would be:
- light
- easy to carry
- powerful
- an amp that does not colour the Tone of my Bass
- easy to use
I tried several, but several rigs in the past month ( my wife thought I was crazy at some point... ). I tried EDEN`s, Ampeg, Genz-Benz and then at an unexpected moment, I cam across a Little MarkBass 11 along with the 410 cabinet 104HF... I plugged my Rickenbacker 4001V63 in it, and then I said : wow ! Finally, the rig of choice for my needs !!! I bought it, put the head in my computer laptop back pack and the cab in the back of the car, and went home !!!
I tried it at a gig last saturday evening and it was simply awesome, with tons of power ( for 6 pounds, you can not do better than that and it beat all other heavier amps I tried! ), warmth, punchy tone and definition. All my bandmates noticed immediately the difference with my old rig ( SUNN 300T / Yorkville XC808, which sounded really good too BTW ).
It was a gift for me and a gift for my back, who liked it a lot at 02:00AM that same night when putting it back into the car, so much it is easy to carry !
Finally, I think I am all set for a long time, now the 151HF ( 15" cabinet ) will be added hopefully sooner than later ! These amps are so easy to tweak and setup it is unbelievable.
My 4001V63 never sounded that good !
I admit I am the first surprised. Try them if you can. The VLE and VPF settings are really good tools they put in the heads.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I bought myself another Bass too... a Music**n Sting**y 4 with three band EQ. A totally different beast than the Rickenbacker !!!!
Bought a MarkBass amp !!

I have been hearing about the MarkBass amps but have never seen one . There were supposed to be working on a US distributor at NAMM this year. From what I have heard they are gorgeous little amps. I think Marco had ties with Ernie Ball at one point...
I like amps that are small , lightweight and powerful. It's a shame Walter Woods didn't make more.
Those Rays do have a different bark than a Ric , heh , I will never sell mine.

Morrow,
I know the MarkBass amps will be distributed in the USA soon. In the meantime, you can order them through canadian dealers like www.clubbass.ca who are excellent to deal with and are used to ship to the USA. I tell you, these little amps have tremendous power output, it`s not the typical 350 / 500 watts rated amps you can find everywhere. These actually deliver the output !
The Rays have something the Ric do not and the Rics have something the Rays do not have. Simple as that and both are superb instruments.
