Anyone who could act his way through "T.J. Hooker" with a straight face has to have a sense of humor. If you've seen Shatner on SNL or other shows, you know he never had a problem poking fun at himself. His take on JITSWD was definitely tongue in cheek, and it wasn't without precedent. Comedian/musician/talk show host Steve Allen used to do a bit where someone dressed in tails would come out and read the lyrics to a rock song from behind a podium, serious as could be. Try that sometime with "Yummy Yummy Yummy."
