Yeah . . . I was surprised they didn't list this for like $2000 or something ridiculous.

Their policy only allows them to jack up the price if you can Rock Out Like Motorhead.
If you think all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something.

Well, this is one thing that is off about it...
"Recently restored to factory conditions at the RICKENBACKER Co. of Simi valley."
A) When did they move?
B) When did they start doing restoration work?

I think if you're dealing with GC, the price you pay for a vintage guitar/bass wouldn't be what you would pay for it somewhere else. For instance, remember Wildwood Guitars had that 70s Autumnglo 4001 for $1700? That thing was immaculate. If you would go to GC to buy it-I am almost certain that the price would be up in the mid $2000s. I don't think GC prices accordingly if they take condition into consideration. Back in '98 I bought an Ace Frehley Les Paul from them, which was supposed to be new. I had went to other GCs to pick out the one I wanted because they let anybody handle those guitars and they get messed up. But they don't change the price or advertise it as used. When it comes down to it, those guitars that are played by customers should be advertised as used. New ones are the ones you get straight out of the factory box. Sorry for the rant.

It looks like someone routed out a battery box for this one.

It seems to me a black cover would have looked better than white but I would have never plugged my router in any where near a 4001. Image
