Toaster Pickup dimensions

Hi, I'm a newbie looking for some information on the reissue Vintage Toaster pickups (for guitar not bass). What I'd really like to know and can't seem to find on the net is the pickup height of a toaster pickup from the flange of the base to the top - to see if I have enough string clearance on a guitar project. Also from the pics I've seen I can't tell if there is anything below the base that decends into the guitar body cavity or whether they are flush mount. Thanks, John N

Welcome to the forum John. I can't help you with the dimensions but the magnets do stick out from the bottom of the pickup. I will let someone with a toaster give you the exact numbers.

Hi John,

Notice that there are 4 screws/nuts in the corners that hold the cover faceplate to the mounting plate, so that adds a bit to the height as well. I just did a measurement of the height, including clearance for the nuts, and got 15 mm. Also be aware that a standard mounting of these pickups will have the 4 corners sitting on little rubber grommet "shock absorbers" -- see the parts diagram on the RIC website for an exploded view that shows these grommets (pickup parts diagram at http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdfs/gpickups.pdf). I just measured the height of the grommet, and it's about 4 mm.

Length and width is about 89 mm x 37 mm.
