Me being a dumb college student, I once went across the border to Windsor for a night of drinking and general frivolity, well, the drinking already started before we left....anyway, we get to the border, and the guard asks us where we are going, how long are we staying, that kind of stuff, and asks if we have any guns in the car.
Me, being a smart-***, I pipe up with "Why? What do you need?"

We got pulled over and searched.

Lesson: Don't mess around with border guards. They don't think that is funny.

"its called RAS."

Yeah I know "Rickenbacker Acquisition Syndrome"...I've had it for years now but it's getting really bad lately cause I'm finally close to being able to afford one.

haha good job Steve...I pretty much make it a general rule not to mess with people who can randomly look up your butt if they feel like it.

Yeah, more than a few bad decisions were made that night. Thankfully, the car was the only thing searched.

Three of my favourite guitar shops:
12th Fret www.12fret.com
Somgbird www.songbirdmusic.com
Capsule www.capsulemusic.com
All 3 are in Toronto and I have seen Ricks in all of them on occasion.
I think Steve's and Long and McQuade are the only authorized dealers in Canada, but it is rare to find any Ricks in either of them. You might want to call L&M up and ask them if they have any on order that aren't claimed. Also, they finance! ;)

I grew up about 15 minutes from the Canada/US border and I used to go over regularly. I have my fair share of border crossing stories. You don't want mess with those guys. So long as you're not doing anything illegal they can't really mess you up, but they can make your life very inconvenient for several hours at a time!

I'm not taking any chances with my new gear-full disclosure, pay the fare. Thanks for the input.

By the way, there is a strange little music store on Queen Street East in Toronto (just east of Carlaw). It has no sign and no store front but has a big picture of Hendrix on the side wall (the guy also used to have lizards in the place). There is a 430 in there going for $1000. I've heard it's been there forever. Anybody know of this place?

It's called "Guitars Lowest Prices" and generally deals in the Made in China/Korea etc. lines. However, every once in a while they get in some vintage stuff on consignment. I was in last week and they've got a Desert Gold 4001S that they say is from 1976 or 1977 (which wasn't a colour option that year) - it's not in great shape and they're asking $2,000 CDN for it. I tried to tell them that it's massively over-priced but of course they won't listen because they think I'm just trying to talk them down to get a deal on it myself (which I'm not)...

That 4001 has been there since at least Christmas time. Same with the 430.
