If it goes to $110,000, I'm pretty sure I'm out.

After a $7200 CS, $7500 for this baby would be a steal.

There's one for sale in Germany, not on eBay, at present for just over $9K.

That German LK sounds like a decent price, is it new? Any idea on certificate #? Is she at a dealer?

Why buy the goofy one on ebay with the wrong pickup spacing, that's been handed around like a cheap Timex, and no factory warranty, when you can buy brand new?

(How's that Brian?)

Pretty good Gary! Image

I received an email from the seller today telling me he is out of town and will send my requested pics when he gets home in a few days. I do tend to be a little overly cautious but that bothers me somewhat. Rickenbacker is never mentioned in the auction, "0" feedback seller (member since '03), first sale is a high dollar item and then the seller is out of town for a few days just after listing it. I realize people have lives and have to travel but why not list it at another time or have someone available for taking extra pics or providing further info? Plus the seller said "Thank you for you response" which sounds very Nigerian scam-ish to me. I also mentioned about how I'd like to pick it up (in route to Midwest Confluence) and that part of my email was not responded to. I'm probably being overly paranoid but that's my specialty!

Hmmm... hope it all goes well, anyway (but also hope the seller won't be sick in bed with flu... oops... sorry).

Unless you can get a picture of the seller holding the bass
and a clearly visible newspaper with todays date(or the date the pic was taken- within the auction's time frame...)
AND paypal ONLY and IFF(remember that from Geometry?)
local pickup can be done...
I'd run away...

I have no idea what the seller looks like.Image I always request pics with my name scribbled on a piece of paper placed on the bass. Allowing me to pick it up is mandatory and I'm even debating about just completing the Paypal transaction in person when I pick it up (but I could see why the seller may have issue with that request). Obviously if I don't feel comfortable I'll just walk away from the auction and retract my bid. If Ebay or the seller has issue with that then so be it.

Still no response on the pics or my request to pick up in person.

Brian, any idea where this fella is located? Maybe a forum member could help with the verification.

If he is anywhere near Detroit(100 miles), I'd be happy to pay a visit and buy, err.......report that is.

I agree it seems odd to throw an LK out there and then play with a serious offer/buyer.

A $500 bass, maybe. Your offer, I'd be sending limo's and dancing girls.

Good luck, let me know if I can help.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer but it is an acceptable detour from my route as I head towards the Midwest Confluence so I'll just stop then if I get it.

I have been outbid and I'm debating on if I want to go further until I get some pics. He did email me back and say it was OK for me to pick it up.....so that is a giant step in the right direction. I'll see how it goes....

That's a good sign he has agreed to do the deal in person.

I wonder at this price level, do you think things could get ugly in the waning seconds?

Well, I received this email today when I asked once again for my "evidence" pics. Initially he was supposed to be back a few days ago and now not for another five.....plus this eliminates me picking it up in person as he had agreed. I'm out!

Spelling not corrected....
"Brian, I'm still in Mcallen, Tx. I'm a constuction superintendent with deadlines to meet, and won't be home till the 24th. The instrument is exactly as I decribed. I also happen to be a very honest man."
