Actually, the Indonesian language, which is based upon Malay, does have words for 'united'. In Malaysian Malay, the USA is called 'Amerika Syarikat', which is a misnomer since 'syarikat' means 'company'. I believe that it actually comes from the phrase 'masyarakat yang bersatu padu', which means 'a united society' and that the 'masyarakat' got *********** to first 'syarakat' and then 'syarikat'.

bersatu = united
bersatu padu = united
padu = solid; united; strong

It is true, however, what Dane said in that Indonesia uses 'serikat' in place of 'syarikat' in naming the USA.
