Good deals on strings
I had 2 sources on good 5 string sets ... nickle round wound strings that sound good and had a good price ... but right now neither source has strings ... so I am looking for a place to buy strings in bulk at a good price ... so if anybody has a suggestion as to where I can buy good sets of strings for my 5 string basses at a cheap price that would help me ... thanks ...

Jeff, have you tried?:
http://www.webstrings.com/
If you have used them, what did you think of the strings and service?

Try Carvin strings Jeff.

I used to use them in the summer months when the humidity was high, and D'addario's in the winter when I wasnt changing them as often. Very similar to D'Addario's, bright and long lasting. The "B" is a .128, which I believe is what you use right??

ya ... I have tried Carvin strings ... they were acceptable quality ... I forgot about them ... Rotos are ok sometimes ... they make several different products ... I have a source for D'addarios for under $20 each ... the problem is for a while I was able to get good 5 string sets for $10 +/- ... that comes in handy when you have to string a lot of basses ...
I'm pretty happy with Musician's Friends Rogue bulks...They've stood up very well on my Laredo.
I'd guess it would be a bass by bass thing, because I don't like the way they feel on my 4001 however. But at about $13 a set (have to by three sets minimum) with shipping, they were not a bad deal and I will buy more. For the 4004.
The 4001 will get TI flats for the next experiment. I really liked that bass' sound with flats, but it needs the low tension.

Try keeping an eye out at SAMASH.com. They run bi-monthly clearance sales on their strings. I've picked up some great deals on KEN SMITH, Blue Steel, ROTOSOUNDS & others for between $9.99-$14.99 a set.
Since a fellow forum mate turned me on to the DR Highbeams, I've been hooked. I been getting them from JUST STRINGS but they run about $23.00 a set. Ebay does have some great deals if you keep your eyes open.

I can't remember how many set of strings I bought from Just Strings. I never had a problem except for a dead E string from a set of SIT flatwounds. I emailed Just Strings, they responded quickly and advised me to call the manufacture. I called SIT and they promptly replaced the E string.
TI's can be had reasonably from Steve Barr at the DudePit, and http://cgi.ebay.com/THOMASTIK-flatwound-bass-strings-long-scale-JF344_W0QQitemZ7406810237QQcategoryZ41432QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Gotta love them DR Highbeams.

Buy it before someone else does.
I get my TIs from the Dude, Steve Barr.
I get my GHS Boomers from GC.
I don't change strings that often (never changed a set of TIs), so I don't mind paying a couple bucks extra to get my rounds locally.
If I need a bunch of stuff, I order thru juststrings. I live maybe 15 minutes from 'em so I always get stuff the day after I placed the order.
