SIT Silencers are great strings, especially if you're on a budget . . . I've never played their flats, but I'd be interested to know how they sounded and felt. SIT make some great strings.

Still a DR guy, though.

Don't waist your time on the SIT flats Bob. They felt nice, but I hated the sound (very dull) and not much life as compared to other flats.
For flats I like LaBella, Chromes, and Ernie Ball.
Buy it before someone else does.

SIT Power Flats are not really flats. They are ground roundwounds that are smoother than a regular ground round. I've used them before, they are not bad strings IMHO. Silencers are nice too and very reasonably priced.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again
