Thanks everybody for your kind words! Here are some more. I know you've all seen V63s before, but I'm just very proud of it. Image

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I had more money after saving up for my 325. I was initially planning on saving for a new C64 (so my goal was $2400+) but when I saw a like-new V63 at the price it was I couldn't pass it up. So, I had extra, and I immediately knew what I was going to do with it. VOX!

I could choose between an AC15 or an AC30 with standard Vox Wharfedale speakers, or an AC15 with AlNiCo Celestion Blue speakers. I tried 'em all, and I preferred the regular AC15. Don't know why, I just did. I had already felt like I'd spent enough money in the last week, so I really wanted to make a deal. The prices on AC15s are $599, so I printed out two ads from Musician's Friend and zZounds showing this. I marched on over to Guitar Center, slapped down the cash, and said, "I want a brand new, in the box, Vox AC15 for $500!" The guy kind of looked at me and said, "Sir, the price on these amps are $599, and we'd have to charge you tax as well...". I showed him the advertisements and said, "I can get this one from either of these online stores for $599 out the door, no tax, free shipping."

He looked them over and said, "We can match it, $599 out the door." I said, "If I wanted to spend $599, I would've bought it from them. I want to spend $500, no more." So, he went and talked to his manager and came back, and said, "Sorry, we can't go that far." I replied, "Alright then, I'll take my business elsewhere." I began to walk out and when I reached the door, he said, "Wait! Lemme check again. Just hold on."

So, that's the story of how I got my Vox AC-15 for $500. I kinda feel like I made a pact with the devil, not having spent any money in the last year and spending two thousand in one week...oh well. The rest of the dough is staying in the bank account until next year! I remember somebody posting on the forum here, "Any specific sound is an equation. The guitar only makes up half of it - the other half is an amp." With that in mind, I couldn't see myself playing a RIC with the intent of getting a Beatle sound without having the right brand of amplifier. So I splurged! Image

A match made in heaven!

Absolutely fabulous Nick. A most excellent way to commence your Ricaddiction.

You forgot the third part of the equation though, and it is the most important part: the techniques of fingers and mind that caress the heavenly tones out of these two fine tools.

Congratulations. They are both perfect.

Nice work Nick. An difficult combination to beat.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Too cool!

How 'bout a Janglebox next? I know John wasn't known for "jangling" as much as George but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how great all that extra treble makes your already great combo sound.

Buying quality gear isn't splurging, or something to feel guilty about! It's really an investment in your own talent. These are the tools that help us become better players.
They also show others we have good taste!
