I think a few of us here wish we could go back to prices 3 years ago...
Rickenbacker prices have really taken off in this period.
Jeff, are those hipshots in the standard sized holes, or have they been enlarged to the larger type?
Why???

For quite some time I'm trying to get a late '72 or early '73 4001 in a good condition (frets, neck and finish), as there were some light weight models made those days. However it seems to be nearly impossible to get one! Meanwhile the price doubled for such basses. So I have to sell some other gear to get more budget. So far I could compete, but when these items now even disappear from ebay... where to look for then???
I suspect these items become some speculation objects for professional dealers and collectors.
So my conclusion is, as it always was: I only sell my gear to serious players. Slightest suspect of a dealer or collector will cancel a deal. I suggest the forumites should initiate a kind of similar policy and clearly display any violation of it. That might help!?

Works well in theory, but in practice most will sell to the highest bidder regardless of who they are. Especially if the have bills to pay or mouths to feed!
