This is what the owner is saying about them...

YES, the set is gold so don't adjust your computer! This is the RARE set with the non-wavy tuner paddle. Why they were FACTORY gold-plated, I have no idea! Perhaps it was for a custom or special order bass, who knows.
The set of (4) is in near-mint condition with virtually no wear to the gold plating. Included is a complete set of gold mounting screws. It's amazing that I sell common chrome sets for twice what I am asking for this set! You can always strip the plating off if you want. In any case, this set is perfect for a 1966-73 4001 or 4005 bass and is mechanically perfect besides looking good!

One of the Hyn old auctions. I thought about them Dave...

Melt 'em down and stick 'em on your teeth.

Get yourself some Gold Grover Grillz...

Go for it!

You never know when a '72 4001 is gonna pop up on ebay with all gold hardware...minus the tuners.

Actually, unless someone here wants them, or can give me a good reason not to, I was going to chrome plate them.

Dave, if I could find a way to similarly gold plate the toaster surround and the other hardware on the '72 currently being restored, I'd trade you my set of chrome-plated grovers with flat keys, just like what you see there (probably have to add cash for the gold ones). Know of any gold platers? The 72 is currently at Paul W's for refin.

Paul, if you want them, let me know. I have Grovers coming out of my a$$.

I'll sell them to you for what I paid for them ($150-ish), or an even Steven trade would be good if you didn't want to part with the cash.

Dave, let me find out what's involved in "gold" plating the other parts (is it really gold?). Are you in any hurry? Jared, is JPS Jeff Scott?

No hurry Paul.

I have no use for them. They were inexpensive (I think). I grabbed them on behalf of the forum in mind. I should get them in about a week.

I have no way of telling if it is real gold plating or not. A very rare find regardless.

Just as an aside, DID Ric ever do a 70s 4001 with gold hardware?

I never saw that Fran either.

Not to say that Grover didn't do it for the heck of it.
