Which to keep?
Hey gang. Since I'm no longer playing bass at the bar three nights a week, it seems silly for me to own two 4003's. Can't decide which to keep, though. I have an '85 MG/BT missing the pickup cover and an '05 MB.
I like the two finishes equally, so I've been trying to compare the necks. The 85 neck seems a little thinner. Is that true or some kind of optical illusion? And which one will hold value better? Please help!!!
Thanks everybody - Jason

Fine-looking 4003. From September 2004 to April 2006 I owned a well-used March '86 4003 exactly like that. I modded it somewhat though: I replaced the black hardware with chrome except for the tuners, and put in a set of my own pickups + treble-pass capacitor. The guy I sold it to was quite excited about it. His words: "This Rick has bags of attack and a tone to die for. And despite the many battle scars, it looks uniquely beautiful." I couldn't agree more.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Looks like the '76 I got from Scott Doseck earlier this year, Jdog. A wonderful-feeling bass that will soon be renovated.
