Wher are you all from?/are you in bands?

Hello from Laredo, Texas! I'm the bassist/vocalist in a blues/rock trio and (when we add a keyboardist and the guitarists vocalist wife...) a Top 40 cover band. Gotta go! Tonight's blues/rock gig starts in a while!

I'm from a little village in central Scotland called Camelon - famous for having Europe's largest rotating boat lift joining 2 canals, Keifer Sutherland's grandfather's original home and one of King Arthur's possible homes (Camelon = Camelot)

I have played in a wedding/function band for the past 10 years with the same great group of guys, I also play in a pub covers band and have just recently joined a big band (the Count Basie, Glen Miller type of big band as opposed to a famous band in case you are wondering.

I'm from western Maryland and I play bass in my band, The Joe Christian Band .... a group of guys from my church ... we play contemporary Christian music along with some praise & worship songs ... I also play bass with a few local guys who are thinking of forming a '5os thru '70s band...no name yet, but definitely something brewing there.

This has been a cool thread so far... it's interesting to see how different our musical projects and backgrounds are!

Me? Kingston, NY... I have a solo project that bears a striking resemblance to my username (been a pain adjusting to songwriting for the first time!) It's leaning toward electro-jazz-funk but I have to be careful because the vocalist is a joke (me.) I also engineer and produce a little and serve as the world's worst-paid hired gun (unless you pay for talent, in which case free sounds about right!)

Mostly though I just love to play... and I someday dream of doing a record with Blair Seaboyer...

Not in a band now. I was in my later teens, and again in the late 80's, when I was in my thirties. Got tired of it, adult life was getting too demanding. But now in my mid-fifties and do a lot of home recording with a long-time buddy, mostly re-creating Beatles stuff, and then we re-work some of the old songs we wrote when we were kids. Kinda fun trying to revisit that youthful creativity with today's technology. And it's a blast to be back playing guitar (and my Rics) more often that once a year!

Since this is my 2nd post, I'll let it serve as my introduction ..

I'm from Brisbane, Australia; currently living in the UK.

I'm not currently in a band, used to play either bass or guitar in indie or covers bands but have been involved in all sorts of things from turntablism to playing double bass in a Latvian folk dance band. At the moment I'm writing songs, once I reach a critical mass I'll start doing some home recording .. and once work settles down I'll start looking for a band again ..

How you doing Alex? I'm from Millbury Ma. (40 minutes west of Boston), been playing for 40 years, (yes, geezer) have played both professionally and semi-professional for many years. Doing all fill in gigs now but am first call for several bands, mostly blues these days. Was a hard rocker back in the 70's. I've done mostly original bands or oldies covers which I enjoy, never did a top 40 band in my life. Currently am first call for an original blues band called The Mike Crandall Band,

I'm house bass player for a blues jam in CT. every other Sunday in a band called The Rick Harrington Band. I play a lot of upright these days but always carry a Ric (usually newer 4003's) wherever I go along with my trusty old SVT's (no not crusty). I still get good offers but usually can't take them as I work a lot of hours these days in a day job. For ex. one of the bands did a USO tour of Korea and Hawaii which I had to turn down last year and again this year.

I'm originally from Hamilton, Scotland, but now live in London. Have two bands on the go:

Test for Echo - a Rush tribute band in which I play bass, bass pedals, keyboards & the odd bit of guitar. Currently not gigging as we are on the lookout for a new vocalist.

Atacama - a progressive rock sort of thing, playing only originals, in which I play bass, bass pedals and the odd bit of guitar. Also not gigging at the moment as we have recently undergone more line up changes than Yes and are still rehearsing the songs with the latest additions (they're rather complicated). Also struggling to find a committed guitarist who is really up to the task.

I'm in Cleveland, Ohio. I've been in my band on and off for 16 years. We are a Metallica tribute type band (with some Motorhead, Zombie, Pantera, etc. thrown in). I'm pretty bored with most of the stuff but lately we have finally started working on originals which has me excited again. We have a pretty loyal, nice size following and have played some great local venues. It's just for fun and gives me a good excuse to consistently expand/change-up my Ric mini-collection.

I hate this part.....the name of the band is "Bill" (I wanted it to be called Trouser Puppet but was out voted.....DRATS!).

A bit undescriptive (?) for a band name, that's all!

Kind of like calling your children A, B, C, etc.
(The one named "etc." would have serious issues later!)
