I'm not about to do any such thing without JH's yea/nay. And, frankly, with prices being what they are, a thousand bucks for the plastic would not make much of a difference in building one. I just would not pay that on principle.

Kenny, where did you find the material for the TRC on yours? I am assuming it was leftover factory stock?

Well, since I am still in Law School I cannot afford one now, so I must wait a couple of years until the prices are unbearable, then I will buy it. But then, then... I will have the ultimate Rickenbacker!

When we did mine, there was just enough of the plastic to do the front of my guitar, and that was a scrap of leftover.

Good question, John; Kenny and I tried to figure that out a while back. It's similar to a Moiré pattern except that Moiré patterns arise from two sheets interacting. It's also similar to a Fresnel lens pattern, expect that there is no focus to the pattern.

It's correctly termed Moiré Fresnel Pandora's Golden Heeby Jeeby Thermoplastic Stuff.

Paul, I think you left out "Diffractive" after "Jeeby" ...

You're right, Gary.

Jwilli, I checked my pictionary, and it gives "hardtoseeclearlythrough" as a synonym for "diffractive", so I think we've got all bases covered here.

But Peter's yellow spellchecker just went nuts on the above paragraph. It looks like a wild husky dog just marked my monitor!
