Maintenance question
I'm trying to find one of those boards (?) that you cradle your guitar in when restringing and cleaning, but I don't know the proper name to do a search. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.
Nothing compares to the sound of a Rick 12 with a JangleBox and a touch of chorus.
Neat, Howard, but, mine is too slick and the Rick wants to slide off too easily. Also it is attached to the laundry room door and would be disastrous if the little woman came barging in while I had my new Rick up there. How do you spell DIVORCE? Say, does it make your playing "flat"?

Howard, I forgot to thank you for responding anyway. I have since found some products: Fretrest Guitar Care System, Fender Guitar Work Station, and Planet Waves Headstand Instrument Workbench Stand. Be careful with your system and don't get burned.

Aitch, you can cover that ironing board with some Rubbermaid non-slip drawer liner material. It is perfect for keeping that Strat in its place. That, and an occasional spanking...

Hahahahahahahaha!!! Geeeezz - I did, Melissa! Except in my case it was beer!! Thanks, Paul..... I now have an unholy mess all over my desk.
So is one not permitted to own, play and dare I say it, enjoy a Strat? Very sorry, but I don't have a blue Rick in the locker.......
I like to share my favours around a bit too, you know....... Before you say anything more, I'd like to state right here and now that I am not a guitar tart!!
Hopefully you won't be upset if I pass on that one, Carl....
Thanks for the info, Jay. I'll have a bit of a peek at those. As you can see from the pic, the iron is well away from the action!

Oh well Aitch,
I have to confess that I many more Strats and Gibsons etc, than I do Rics. I have at least five Strats that I would not trade or sell for all the tea in China. Enjoy your Strats. I do.

Aitch, Aitch...
You know that Strats are not my preference. But I'm not stupid nor am I intolerant. (How can a guy with an Antigua Jaguar pretend to criticism of a lovely LPB Strat?)
Enjoy your Strat! Yes!!! By all means! You too, Brian. You guys have an appreciation that I do not possess, and that's entirely OK with me. You know that my Fender taste (or lack of it, if you will) runs to Jags, Jazzmasters, Mustangs and Duo-Sonics. I admit that readily, while many will say, to borrow a term from Melissa, "Eeeeewwwwww...."
To each his own.

A well built and well set up Strat in the hands of a competent musician can weave a tapestry of sound that is soothing to the ear. I love all of mine for that reason. I also happen to like their weight and balance. Functionally the controls are both intuitive and responsive to even the lightest touch.
I also love my various Rickenbackers, for similar, but also for completely different reasons. They are arguably the finest built guitar ever conceived. They sound like no other and to the eye they are the most appealing instruments ever designed.
Strats and Rickenbackers can co-exist. They do in my household.
