Hi.. does anyone know where I could obtain a metal (chromed of course).. pickguard for my 4003 bass..I saw a guy on tv from a 1970's USA band.. the music was awful but he had what looked like a mapleglow 615 ? the one with the giant allover style pickguard with a nicely chromed look to it.. I guess it must have been a customised as I have never heard of another Ric guitar with one.. the other guitarist had a pointy looking Gibson..and his hat was on backwards....

Cheap Trick. Robin Zander playing an early Combo 450 and Rick Nielsen (playing a non-RIC).

I think you may be referring to Cheap Trick, whose lead singer Robin Zander played a 1959 or 1960 model 450, which had an anodized pickguard. They didn't go to plastic white guards until late 1960--early 1961.

Shame you don't like them, they had many hits and are still around.....

Antony, these folks sell chromed pickguards:

I've never bought anything here, but they sell pickguards on E-bay frequently.
