$1250 is a great price. Snag it. And I like the HiLos, too. When I got my 6119-62 in 2002, they were making them with Filtertrons. I ordered one, because I always wanted a Tenny. What I DIDN'T know at the time was Gretsch also started putting out a 6119-62HT line, oh, about 12 minutes after I ordered mine.
I ended up getting TV Jones HiLos and swapping them out, and it sounds fantastic! It's probably my favorite player of my 5 Gretschs.

Paul, I'd snag that 6119-62HT if I were you. I've wanted one of them forever, I just couldn't pull the trigger on the recent "blowout price" on my college budget... Not until summer, anyway.
That price is great and the guitar will give you a different sound than your 6122-59.
I'm really hoping that Gretsch doesn't discontinue them. It's possible they've got a new Tenny coming with a Chet Atkins endorsement, but who knows. There hasn't been any official word from Gretsch/FMIC on this topic. I suppose even if the HT is discontinued, it'd be possible to do what Jerry did and buy a 6119-62FT and then swap out the pickups for TV Jones HiloTrons.

Paul, I agree that that's a good price on a new Tennessean. I recently got one new from Dave's Guitars in Wisconson for 1/2 off the list and paid $1279 plus $20 shipping. It's a real nice piece like all of the Japanese Gretsch's. The only thing I'm not to crazy about are the factory Hilo trons. I currently waiting for a replacement set from TV Jones.
When the guitar arrived, the factory strings were 10-46 roundwounds. I quickly changed them out with a new set of Tomastik 11-47 nickel flatwounds and they made a world of difference.
As to the pre Fenders vs. the current Fender production the first thing I noticed is that they are now use 3 ply maple plywood which results in a lighter guitar like the original Gretsch's. The pre-Fenders used 5 ply plywood with made them stronger but a lot heavier. They have also upgraded the wiring harness and toggle switches. My buddy has an original 6119 Tenny and hopefully soon we can get together to compare the tone of both.
