'72 4001 Question
I have a question for those of you lucky enough to have a '72 4001:
Were they all made with a white nut or were some made with black?
How about the switch tip, white or black?
It seems to me that most of the '72's I've seen have white.

Thanks, Tim. You're new here. This one has been shown a gazillion times. When it comes back from Paul W's magicwerkes, it will have a deep burgundy sunburst finish and new shiny checker binding. We're calling the color "mink." Ted Staberow did a lot of the prep work, including rebinding the neck and adding walnut headstock wings. I hope to get 'er back the end of this month if Paul W's schedule allows.
Enjoyed your video, BTW.

From my experience, Rick switch tips were black starting in mid
61.
In 69, they stopped using bakelite for nuts and went to the white
plastic. Sometime in 73 or 74 they went back to bakelite.
This lasted until the mid 80s when white plastic began to appear
sporadically.
