replace the rod ... here are some pics of me replacing the rods on a bass ... http://www.3dentourage.com/425/restoration.htm ... the nice part about the design of the 4003 is the rod will fail before you damage the neck ...

Mark:

If you can't find one in the UK, all the US dealers are authorized to sell parts internationally.

Either Chris at the Pick of the Ricks
http://www.pickofthericks.com/cart32_ric_parts_strings_index.htm

http://www.the-music-connection.com/ricpart.htm
or Mike at the Rickenbacker page could help.

Is it body or headstock end adjuster?

Your welcome Mark!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

You could also use the wwww.rickenbacker.com home site; but I think these guys will ship out faster, IMHO. They are both excellent dealers!

Best of luck for a speedy repair!

Ted its a 2004 4003, so it's headstock end adjuster.

If you are handy with tools and have access to some 5/32 steel rod, you can make one. I may have one on hand that I could send you.

That would be very good. No, I'm not particularly great with tools. I can use a screwdriver!
How much money are we talking about?

Cheap - buy me a lager some day. The way the forum works we will probably be in the same place at the same time sooner or later.

Right!!! Even more problems with my 4003. I cannot remove the G side trussrod. The E side one came out a breeze. But I've tried for the last 4 hours to try and the remove the bloody thing. I give in.
Anyone want a Monty Brown for spares. I've had enough!!!!
