George explains drive-in movies
...for all the Americans these days who will never experience one. Cool guitar, too:

They were all capable of being very funny, and more importantly they almost always got jokes (I have suspected this was a problem with Pete Best...lack of a sense of humor and inability to change hair styles.) Clearly, anyone who was going to be in that band for any length had to have a sense of humor and it's one thing to so many bands completely lack (Led Zeppelin never would have run around with swords in the fog in their film had they had they realized how inane they looked.) There's no better example of Lennon's humor than when he introduces the band, with a straight face, as Paul McCharmly, Ringo Stone, etc.

Okay, so George was funnier than John, Paul, and Ringo.
But he certainly wasn't funnier than the Three Stooges.

I thought it was in the Anthology...during a tour of Sweden in '64. If not, I saw it somewhere else. Great clip. They read passages from In His Own Write while tearing pages of the book out. John looks annoyed and totally jet lagged. It's amazing they didn't appear to have a press agent there to control it. In fact, I never saw an interview with the "Bad Boy" Stones where they were half as outrageous (not to mention disrespectful.)

What a wonderful clip. George Harrison was an extremely funny man. As I've mentioned before on these boards I went to school with his son and had the pleasure of meeting him several times and he always made me laugh and not the "giddy it's GH so anything he says is funny" laugh. He always had very funny observations on things, from the campus food at Brown to Dhani's hair care products to the English countryside. Very missed.
