I know this was addressed here before...

Two weeks ago my two vintage cases got doused with rain....now it's green smelly mold everywhere. What is the best thing to do????

Get them into sunlight ASAP and let them dry out. UV helps. Leave 'em open until they are completely dry. Remember, under all that tolex and velour, they are bent plywood.

Fans are good. Once they are completely dry, time to get rid of the mold and smell. Vacuum as much of the visible mold out as you can.

For that, Carpet Fresh. Sprinkle and close. Then leave in a dry place for a couple of weeks. Check every couple of days. Vacuum the powder out. The moldy smell may return. If so, repeat.

The sickly-sweet smell of Carpet Fresh does go away fairly quickly, too. I've had good luck with Febreze, but with mold, you need heavy ammo.

So much for a case that's more susceptible to natural damage than the bloody instrument itself!
