It's interesting, you know... this thread has highlighted a glaring "miss" from the list.

I first "played Rickenbacker" on a borrowed JG 360 - and that's when I fell in love with them. My dad was in the services in the 60s/70s, and one of his fellow Officers entrusted it to me while they were serving out in Singapore. This would have ben around 1972...when I was 13. I had it for about 6 months. I can still remember the "Feel" of that guitar.

So why is it that I have never owned a Rickenbacker 360?? I have no idea....

I need to rectify that situation one day soon...

I gave away the '81 4003 and sold the '67 Hofner.
Don't know the year of the JG, but I bought it used in the early '70's and it had all the goodies (well, minus a knob). Sold it when rent got tight. ImageImage

My '81 4003... traded in for a Spector that I no longer play. If I had known about this forum I would have never gotten rid of it... oh and don't laugh, I was 17. Image
What do you mean the Bass is too loud???

Following on from Bruno's post and Bob's photo above, my first taste of a real Rickenbacker was when my 19 year old friend lent me his Rickenbacker 4001 bass for a week.

I thought it was the coolest thing on the planet, particularly because I was only aged 15 at the time. It was so cool I had my Mum take a photo of me posing in front of my favourite Kiss posters and wearing my rock-star shades.

Twenty five years later I finally have my own Rickenbacker 4001, but still pose for stupid photos! Image

That was back 1978 when this Girl played an army facility where I did my duty 15 months. The Girl was called "GILA" and had a number one hit called "voulez vous coucher avec moi?" Anyhow I already had my 1978 4001FG but I liked her '72/'73 MG.

I still have the poster ad from this playback concert. Hopefully she sold it to a more serious player.
