Here's a few more of Lennon's guitars from that exhibit display. Here's the Gallotone Champion acoustic from the Quarrymen days.

I saw Lennon play this on The Mike Douglas Show when he and Yoko hosted it for a week. I think there is a pic of him and Chuck Berry together playing on the show.

Jeff, Great shots where did you get them all? Does the museum have it's own webpage?

Brian, I have sooo many contacts and folks out there sending me stuff, it's very easy to lose track! I don't remember who sent me these, but it's a good guess that the Japanese Lennon Museum has it's own website. They most likely came from there.
Here's Lennon's Ovation Legend 1651-4 acoustic.

Funny but the later Lennon guitars do nothing for me. Give me the 4 325s, the Casino and I'm fine. But thanks for posting the pics. :-)

The white pickguard on John's '58 325 makes my skin crawl.

I believe that the Gallotone on display at the JL Museum is a replica. A private collector purchased the real Gallotone in a Christies or Sothebys auction a number of years ago, which called into question — for some people at least — the authenticity of the other JL guitars on display. Even those "floating" photos are fairly dated. The JL Museum has no images of any guitars or artifacts on the Web Site. You have to go to Tokyo to get a look at anything that's on display in the museum.

What is up with the neck pickup on that LP?

On second look, it looks like a pickup from one of those Charlie Christian Gibsons.

Howdy,

John Biscuti, yes it appears to be a Charlie Christian p/u on that LP Special. I've got a LP Special and it's one of my favorite guitars: It's got P-90's it's light and comfy. I can see why John used one.

The two times I've seen shots of John with LP Special's I've seen show both with that old fashioned Charlie Christian pickup--both at MSG and with Chuck Berry on the Mike Douglas show, yet I he seems to always be playing with the bridge pickup anyway. I guess it's one of the many peculiar questions left lingering for gear obsessed fans like me...
