Breaking With Tradition

Post by admin »

If you forgive the guitar work, this short clip breaks with tradition when it comes to the Rickenbacker 12 string. There are more Rickenbacker sounds at Bjorn's site here.

Different, Peter. Now, what all did you run it through? BTW, the guitar work was fine!

Stan: That's my 450/12 through a Boss Metal Zone and my Fender Twin Reverb.

Very cool Peter. Ric 12's do sound nice when driven over the top. I'll have to get a version of Frankenstein on the 660/12 recorded and posted. It's pretty over the top too!

Now that's how a 12 SHOULD be used Peter!

Just a thought, have you considered trying it through a Marshall 100w valve & a 4x12 or two? Image

Tony: I am on the lookout for a Marshall that I can afford. Do I need 4 12's?

Wow, I had a Marshall, 100, 4x12. It was a load! You really didn't have to play, all you had to do is just fret the strings

The 4x12 speaker cabinets give a sound that can't be duplicated any other way Peter & IMO adds greatly to the Marshall 'sound'. The volume (space) of the cabinet gives you that authentic deep bottom end, giving a much better frequency range, that smaller cabs just can't possibly produce.

IMO, a 4x12 is a must.....

Cool, Peter!

Sometimes when I'm mucking around with my 12 I play the opening section of Floyd's "Sorrow" with heaps of fat and a bender pedal. If I want to go really crazy I throw in an octave pedal!!

Just for fun, of course............ Image

I don't have a Marshall 4x12 but the AC-30 or JC-120 do the job.

Yes Howard, but they don't do the job of a Marshall 4x12! Image

Precisely, Tony! What I should have said was .... 'but the AC-30 or JC-120 do the job for me' Image

.... at the present time, in the confines of my own home, with nobody else listening.....

I know what you meant Howard, but I'm just trying to convince Peter that a Marshall half stack (full stack preferably!) is the best set up in the world! Image

You'll get to hear mine soon....Image

An admirable project, Tony!

BTW, what head and cabinets are you using? I've thought more that once about buying a nice Marshall setup but there are so many variations it's a bit mind boggling....

Looking forward to a rampant Carey/Rick/Marshall combination, too.......... Image
