Rolling on the ground crying my peppered eyes out...

Brian. The usual. Marriage broke up. I won custody of the kids. I was already moonlighting at a hotel and was able to get a Director's job...so for the sake of the kids I hung it up. I miss it every once in a while. Mostly when idiots drive past me. Image

Brian, pepper spray? C'mon, what happened to old time hands on law enforcement? You know, where you actually reach out and touch someone, get fired, convicted, and sued out of existence.

Ah the good old days of crime fighting. I'm sure we are much safer now that the PC police have our backs.

If you and Brian S had scored higher on the civil service test, you could have been firefighters. You would have a great job where you get to run into buildings that people with fully developed cerebral cortex's are running out of.

Hello, and great to hear from you Mr. JH! It a world full of slippery and invisible CEO's, you are a breath of fresh air. Your candor, damn the torpedo's and the PC police, full speed ahead directness, perhaps ruffles some feathers,(mine on occasion), but I believe it's the primary reason Rickenbacker is alive, healthy and the unique art form that it is. I may not always be on the same page, but there is no better way to get my attention, as a post with your fingerprints on it. Thanks for stopping by.

I feel a little sorry for the poor dim bulb that messed with JH and the RIC site. Not really, go get him Mr. Hall.
I'm just happy to be here.

J. Gary. Don't get me started on the fireman's test. I finished 48th out of 10,000 on the written. Aced the physical and then couldn't get in because of my right eye had to have corrective lenses. Funny thing though. My best friends prom date is now the Fire Chief. A funny story about the SFFD Chief's residence is that it is a converted fire station on Bush Street. Nothing in the house is above the chiefs head because of superstition. The chief in 1906 was killed in the earthquake by the building next to him crashing in on his head. That house isn't to far from Paul W's office. Are you all bored yet?

I'm not a fan of heights so I never pursued the fire test.....I do love to play with fire but that's another story.
My other issue is having to be a paramedic which isn't a way I want to interact with the public. My patience and people skills are better suited to police work.....but I'd rather have fireman's 24 on/48 off schedule.

(disclaimer....I've had a desk job for about a year now so I'm not actually doing "police work" at the moment.....long story)

...if you weren't bored before you probably are now. Image

Brian....putting family first is the way to go. Good job making the right decision for you.

So if you are behind the desk you don't get to draw chalk lines or use the pepper spray ...

Not normally......but I still moonlight at Indians games, concerts, construction jobs, a trendy shopping area, etc. so there is always hope!

Actually I find pepper spray pretty ineffective if someone is seriously against cooperating.
I've seen plenty of bodies but, unfortunately, we don't use chalk lines.....just lots of pics. They may use chalk or tape lines if a jury is shown a crime scene but I'm not involved in that aspect.

I'll be back on the road doing real work before too long I'm sure.

Aw jeez Jeff, I wasn't finished messing with the police and you had to be a decent guy. I'll behave now.

Brian S, you are dating yourself if you tested back when you actually had to go through a testing process. Now anyone with a lawyer gets on, blind, crippled, or crazy. Incubus is right on target as to your call. Seems the smart guys get stuck behind desks in law enforcement.

Oh yea, RIC, RIC, RIC. Forgot where I was, site is still up.
I'm just happy to be here.

No kidding! I recommended that they start with the eye test. Image Actually I think you can wear corrective lenses now. It was a tough pill to swallow. It took me a long time before I could even say the word FIRE...glo!
