A little break and some questions

Post by stubby »

I've been using the new 360 all weekend and having a great time. I played a solo gig on Friday but I left the Rick at home as I hadn't had enough time to get to know it. I was thinking about it every second song though. I rehearsed with my band on Saturday and I was amazed at how well this guitar cuts through the mix, both in the high and low end. I am truly enamoured with this guitar and I'm looking forward to getting to know it better. I had to take a little break though because I feel like my arms and fingers are about to fall off! I haven't been able to put it down! By the way, the set-up is perfect. When it came to me, it was out of tune and I had just quickly tuned it to itself. It was almost a half step down so when I tuned it up to pitch, the slight buzz at the 5th disappeared.

One of the guys I play with has been wanting to buy a Rickenbacker for some time now but his musical purchase money has always gone to other items (mostly recording gear). He was playing the 360 on Saturday though and was smitten. Interestingly, when his wife came to pick him up, her and I had a little chat and it turns out she is intending to buy him one for his upcoming 40th birthday (in January). She doesn't know anything about guitars so I told her I'd look into it for her. I know he'd like a 3 pickup guitar and he really likes the stereo output option so it looks like it'll be a 370 for him. My question - what's the typical wait time for one of these if it's ordered through a dealer? I'm not sure what finish he'd like (I imagine his wife will choose this) but it'll be a standard finish anyway. Is there a difference in typical wait times for a 370/12 or 370/6?

This is great, I get to be involved in more Rick shopping without the financial angst!

Gotta go, there's a guitar in the corner calling my name...

Hi Bill - you could always avoid the uncertain waiting period by ordering from a reputable dealer on-line who already has your model in stock. Here's a few:

My favourite is the monty brown 375. What a beauty!

Good luck. Post pics when you finally pick one!

Bill, don't have her special order anything that's not in stock; it could take until after January (I think they finished making 370s for a while).

Just have her figure out if he'd want FireGlo, MapleGlo, or Montezuma Brown and order one from stock here: http://www.voxshowroom.com/northcoast/shopping/index.htm (assuming he wants a 12-string). It'll take a couple days and be perfectly setup.

Or you and she could watch eBay for a few months and see if any good deals come up.
