Help!!!! Need advice

Post by bmenary »

Hi All- I am new to vintage Rics- I purchased a Ric on the US Ebay yesterday- 1966 330 Mapleglo- After I won it, some Ebayer wrote me that they thought that "all the hardware on the guitar is reproduction" Please check it out and tell me what you think- I will be speaking to the owner but need some expert opinion. Thanks very much.

I'm no expert on vintage guitars, but from the photos all the hardware looks correct to me. Whether they are repros or not, I wouldn't know.

Certainly, the rest of the guitars has authentic period features (headstock shape, 21 fret neck, round heel, etc.).

Looks like a nice a nice one regardless!

Welcome to the forum.

No expert here either, but it appears to be a very reputable seller (99.9 on 1280 transactions--would probably be hard not to pick up one whiner in all those sales), the guitar looks clean and from the photos at least, everything appears to have grown old together. Maybe a sour grapes note from someone you outbid?

Congrats! Looks beautiful.

Looks good to me. The bridge is the old style bridge. The only thing that I wonder about are the knobs....did a 330 come with vintage knobs, or were they the silver topped ones in '66?

Welcome Barry, your gtr looks great.
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

The black knobs look like the only non original item to me. Thats a cheap and easy fix though. Sounds like sour grapes by the guy who emailed you.

I don't have pics with me, but my all-original 1966 340 FG has tuners with white plastic tips. I'm pretty sure it has the standard silver-topped knobs, too, but I'll check when I get home.

I don't think this one has white tuners it is just a reflection. The silver top knobs started in '65. The R tail piece started in '66. Other than the control knobs this looks correct to me. It is missing the bridge cover though.

Welcome to the forum Barry. Nice buy, congrats.
