I thought this was a page to brag, er, list what Ricks you own. Okay I will. Oct. '67 4005 #GJ4200 and May '82 4003 #VE1392, blonde with black pickguards, black with white lettering logo, black binding etc. (p.s. also a '67 beatle Hofner)

The 4005 is Fireglow.
Think the factory would refinish it for me? Before I bought it in '82 or so (for about $250.00)somebody used it as a "daily driver", lots of paint chips. Maybe that guy in Sly and The Family Stone. Ever seen the video for (I'm not even going to try to spell it like they did) "Thank You For Lettin' Me Be Myself"? The Bassist is playing a 4005 and doing that funky bass slap thing. It is a lip synch, however.
I just restrung it yesterday with flat wound Pyramids, and fell in love with it all over. Whatta Bass!

A P.S. to myself:
Actually, I'm rather proud of the used look of my 4005. Means it's been used. Would you buy a raced Ferrari and not expect paint chips? It's part of the history of the item. I sometimes get the feeling reading various forums and for sale ads that it's blathsphamy (how do you spell that anyway?) to have bought and actually used your Rickenbacker (save for the bassists, bless them). People in ads apologizing for selling a guitar with a little nick ("see close up photo of nick, please") above the input jack. Seriously, I play clubs and see lots of other bands, and I don't recall seeing a Rickenbacker being used in the last five years. All these backordered Ricks must be going into collections. Pardon me if I appear to be a rambling curmudeon (what kant spel).
