... about Bass Players

Post by heinpete »

Just reading about that nice thread from Randy, it came to my mind to ad some other aspects:

What do musicians think about during the gig?

- The singer: After the gig I'm gonna get me that hot girl there of the second row ...!
- The keyboarder: Today my sound again is sooo good, ...so damn good..., well, I'm so marvellous today ...!
- The guitarist: After the gig I'm gonna kick that guy behind the mixing console right into his b**ls. Then he gonna see...
- The Drummer: Where am I gonna set up my 4th bass drum at the next gig??
- The bass player: E - E - E - E - A - A - A - A - B - B - B - B - A - A - A - A - ...

But,,,,a good bass player can make or break a band.

The rythym section IS the band. Everything else is just window dressing.

You're right there Scott. Without a super tight rythm section, you're on a non starter....at least at pro level, the bass & drums are everything (OK, after the quality of the songs & the 'persona' of the front man!)

Still think that's pretty funny though Peter & so right about the keyboard player!
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

A bassman and his drummer try to escape a fire on the rooftop of a highrise and realize they won't make it. The drummer takes the hand of the bassman: "We never caught the same beat and never hit the 1 at the start of a song but at least we die together." They jump off the roof:
"...platsh,...platsh!"

What do you call a guy who hangs out with musicians ... a drummer.
Ba bing!

Seriously [;)] the bass player is THE most important musician in a band. He is the only one who has to hold together the rhythm AND the harmony.

I'M A BASS PLAYER, however...
A guitarist and a bass player have a serious argument behind the stage. The drummer turns up: "What's the problem guys?" The bass player with a desperate voice: "The guitarist detuned a string on my bass and doesn't want to tell me which!"

Mark: Do you know the difference between a drum machine and a drummer?

-The drum machine can hold the beat and doesn't sleep with your girl friend.

A bass player went to the balcony for a joint.
Suddenly WOOOOOSHHH
A fireball zooms through the sky.

"Boah eyy, that is cool, I'm gonna try that stuff again right now!"
Turns another one and smokes again.

...and also this time again WOOOOOSHHH,..
another fireball zooms through the sky.
"Unbelievable, amazing this pot...!" he goes back in.

"Hallo mammy, do you got something to drink? I'm thirsty and my throat feels like I was in the desert!"

"Not exactly in the desert my dear, but no wonder, You've spent two days on the balcony!" Mother replied.

A couple is close to divorce. In their last effort they attend a counsellor and explain that they simply didn't talk to each other for years, hence do not know how to solve their problem.
The counsellor asks them to another room where there is a huge stack of an AMPEG SVT4 with a 2x15 and a 8x10 box, takes the 1972 Rick 4001FG and starts a furious solo.
Despite the wall-breaking noise, the couple immediately starts to talk to each other and clears all issues. After the counsellor stops playing the couple heartily thanks the counsellor a thousand times and asks about the title of that wonderful song.
The counsellor replied:" Not a special song, just a bass solo. But my experience is, everybody starts talking during bass solo!"
