I wonder what happened to the former contents of that case.

wouldn't it break your heart to open a case like that and find an Ibanez bolt on neck'd copy in there?? Of such things are nightmares made....

Wints,

That white one is too cool! (Not that I'd throw the green one away either!)

Don't you have a case for either Andy?

Not original ones Gerry. The white bass had a custom case made for it by Pete Greenwood which I let go after I picked up a reissue. Funnily, a much better version of Simon's nightmare, was the green bass, which when I bought it, stared back at me from a case from one of the Japanese copies!

Andrew that white 4001S bass is breath-taking. Could you elaborate a bit on its history and details? I've never seen a horseshoe surround shaped quite like that. Any more pics would be good.

Thanks Alan.

It's been fairly well documented here. I'll e-mail you personally with some bigger pix and info.

If they ever make a V-65 (68? or whatever) that should be the surround. (IMHO)

Yeah, that's the one. I like the lower half tail shape. Where these the shape of 60's horseshoe surrounds?

Yes, this is a mid '60s surround. The shape of the surround varied over the years, I got this one on evilbay for about $200.00! about a year and a half ago. It was on my '04 4003FL for a while till I sold it to a former forumite to help restore a '64 4001.

Jeff, is that a true toaster in the bridge position or a high gain in disguise? If a toaster, compare/contrast with a high gain please. [What is this, HS English class??!! :D ]
