Here's the Altavista Babelfish translation:

"Explanation of commodity
Shocking arrival!
4000th of 50 age latter terms which specification of 57 year sale beginning color densely are left arrived!
You adopt the walnut through neck, call gold back pick guard it is splendid
Don't you think? it is specification. From 60 it becomes the May pulling problem. Accumulate in the maniac
It is. The vigor where also the horseshoe pickup now is corresponds to also encounter well. Neck
There is a somewhat crack in the back, but completely there is no problem in use.
As for 4000 of this age it meaning that also production is little ahead of time!
Presently becoming enormous thing, it increases the price in America!

It's not for me, but I bet it will not last for another 24hrs after your posting here. Looks like one hell of a good price.

You don't have one of those, do you, Dave? It'd certainly be a great addition to an already fine collection.

And from what people say, they sound fantastic. But, of course, this is truly a collector's piece. It'd be great for recording projects.

This one looks alot like the one that R Smith did a rare bird column on years ago....
That one had the guard cut around the PU surround too.

I've been lucky enough to play three of them. Baseball bat necks, definitely. They sound great, like a good horseshoe pickup should. I'd really like to have one someday, but they don't have the same magic for me that my 68 does.

Agreed, Scott! They have a great tone & vibe but not as easily playable as late 60's models and on. Here is a 1961 FG I saw at the Dallas Show last year for an astounding $19K:

When did the pick guard start looking modern? When the 4001 came out?
