Not to worry John, just a few enhancements.

Toaster? horseshoes? Maybe throw some of those old Grovers, gathering dust on it....Image

I "decapped" my 73 FL yesterday. What a true difference in sound. So much fuller and more mwahhh...

I know the answer, but, why, oh why, did these basses ever have this installed....

My guess is check binding. That would be a killer on a Blue Boy!

I also think you are getting it fretted and adding full width inlays!

I had another little FL come my way yesterday. I hadn't posted anything about it because I was having too much fun playing her last night. I'll post pics and tell you guys about it when I get home from work.

Hey Joey,

I was just visiting your web page. Excellent site, some amazing stuff! I really enjoyed the RIC tour pictures. I'll probably never get the chance to tour the actual factory, so your pictures are the closest I'll probably ever get to that experience.

Could the bass you mention in the previous post be the 4003FL MONTY with all the 2006 goodies on it? Wow, that should be a RARE one. How does she feel & sound? Do tell!

Oh man, I'm green....Where the heck did you find that sweet one?

Tony, thanks for the kind words about my website.
Yes that's the bass that I mentioned. I love that bass, I can't put it down!! If you noticed I haven't posted much in the past week...that's why!! I got it from Pick Of The Ricks.
I paid less money for it than the one that is on ebay right now for the 4th or 5th time already.

Nice bass Joey...

I played it.

It came in the same time as my BB FL.

Thanks Dave, I was wondering how you knew it didn't have the walnut ears!

Joey,

DOES your FL have the Walnut ears? I thought it did. Man, she is SO pretty! I've been watching that one you mentioned on Ebay for a while. Each time he lists it, he drops the price $100.00!

I'm trying to figure out just HOW many 2006 Monty's actually have ALL THE 2006 goodies including the walnut ears.

I know Chirs at POTR had FOUR come in, he had mentioned that to me. I know of TWO that went to somewhere in Asia, and I know of a shipment that went to the UK & JAPAN, but I don't have a count on how many ACTUALLY went. I also heard from Mike Parks and the few he had show up, didn't have the walnut ears.

I think 2006 is going to be a very sweet year. These things are like wine, some years seem to be sweeter than others.

My 2006 has a noticeably THINNER neck than both of my 2005's. The sound on my 2006 is AMAZING. I love the vintage tone switch.

Tony, it does not have the walnut ears, I was surprised, but not disappointed. I think the brown walnut ears and the Monty Brown color take away from each others beauty when put together. I have other Ricks with walnut ears that they look great on.
Yes this bass is very pretty, pictures do not do justice to the finish, especially MY pictures. LOL
The vintage tone setting brings out more of the growly mwah in this bass. I love it.

The guy on ebay might get his higher price if he placed his ad a while after all of the new MB's have definitely been sold.

I don't have the exact quantity on hand right now, but every 4003 from this year has walnut ears and the push-pull tone selector. Moreover, the 4003's produced towards the end of '05 should all have walnut ears too. The thinner neck deal is news to me!

It's an exception to the '06 walnut ear feature. Image
