My first post here in 04 was in search of a chrome plated steel guard to put on a Jet-glo 4003. Today was the end of that search...without further ado....
Maybe it will only take 5 years to find a chrome TRC!
I normally don't care for chrome guards on Rickys but I like it better than white on a JetGlo. I'm sure you could find a shop that could engrave a steel truss rod cover and then plate it for you.
The standard stark white plastic guards are the only part of the 4003 Bass design I loathe. It really distracts the eye from the beauty of the 4003's immaculate body design IMO. The guard is approx 25% of the body front area. Chrome being the next dominant eye catcher on a jet-glo has a depth and color movement aesthetic that I find lacking in other bass designs. If I could, I would chrome plate the whole axe front to back.(well...not the Blueburst)
Nice. Where did you get the chrome pick guard? I have a JetGlo with white plastic. I have looked at getting something from Pickguardian, but I haven't seen anything like this before.
Thanks Gents for the kudos, Mr. Raths handiwork is evident also. Makes quite a grounding plate at that.
Greg - Ebay. I have several favorite searches saved, one is "Chrome pickguard" title tag in the Bass Category. Thats how I acquired a Chrome P Bass guard (another Rath 4-2-5 thread) Been checking it daily for over a year. Most of what has come up matching is silvered plastic or "mirrored chrome". This one added about 18 oz. to the basses weight though. I play seated (Praise Band) most of the time so not an issue.
