Fender Jaguar Bass
Also, one other important item I didn't mention previously...
This bass doesn't hum at all. I've played it in 2 clubs and in front of the TVs and computer monitor that usually drive my MIM Jazz nuts, and it has been silent (I play primarily in the passive-series option, but haven't noticed problems in passive-parallel or active). If you had told me that I could have a Jazz neck with these sound options and no hum, I would have spent a lot more than what it cost, and that's not even considering the cool vibe of this bass.
Sorry for the glowing review, but this one earned it!

Dean, i'm glad to see someone else loves this bass as much as I do.
The only feature that I wish Fender could have incorporated into the bass would be to have a volume blend control knob. Right now the p/u's are either on or off. You can control their overall volume but you can't blend them together to achieve various tonal variations. This is not a big issue with me, but would be a nice feature to have.
Don't be sorry for your glowing review, the Jaguar IV is Fender's best effort in years.
Wait till you get it in to the studio!

Lars -
Enjoy your new Jaguar bass. I am really, really liking mine. The bass felt like an old friend the first time I picked it up, and it has only gotten more comfortable from there. The sound has everything I've wanted, too. And every time I play it out in a club, I invariably get questions from musicians - "what is that - it looks like a Jaguar guitar, only as a bass?"
I hope Fender considers continuing this model for a while, and offering other colors, etc. With its feel, sound, looks, and electronic options, I honestly think it is Fender's best overall model in their catalog for new basses.

Lars, I was following the auction for your 3-tone Sunburst Jag bass. I didn't bid on it because of the price being driven up.
My question is, are you unaware that you could have bought a brand new one from Japan for a couple of hundred US dollars less than you paid for yours?
Ishibishi sells them new for $720.00 US online.
I guess it won't matter what you paid for the bass once it arrives, because you're going to love.

Yes Jon, I found out after the auction was finished. It is wrongly listed as a jazz bass and didn't show up in my search for jaguar. My purchase will still be 20% lower than Norwegian retail price (even with shipping and VAT paid). USDollars are weak now so any purchase is 10% lower than just a few months ago. There's a little comfort in that....
Oh Jon, I was thinking about another japanese company: Apollon-Saty. They have the same deal here:

A little more than Musicians friend or Music 123, but they don't have them in stock and can't deliver sunburst.
I wasn't aware of Ishibashi Jon, thanks for the tip. Better yet, they are:
Fender Pratinum Dealer!

Nate, if you like Jazz bass necks, you ought to at least look at one of these. It's got a lot of useful tones. Mine's well-built and doesn't hum at all. Considering it's quality and versatility, I think it's a much better bargain than, say, an American Jazz Bass (it's a couple hundred dollars less and has more pickup options). They're made in Japan, like the Geddy Lee Jazz bass (I think I remember you were considering one of those at one point, too).
