I've done a few things over the years. I've added accent vibratos to a 330 and a 620.

My most recent thing was to take my turquoise 330/12 and switch the guards and trc for gold, replace the hi gains with toasters, change to TV/oven knobs (like the 325v59 knobs) and wire it for stereo.

See the thread titled "Stereo-ify a mono guitar" under the technical category of this forum for a picture. Some people were horrified, others dug it. I laughed til I stopped.

I made myself a copy of a 4001/4003 bass, but used walnut wings on the body. I can post a pic later if anyone wants to see it?

Also I'm in the process of refinishing my '89 RIC 230. It was originally red when it left the RIC factory, and when I got it in 1991 it had been refinished black over the top of the red. There was so much lacquer on it the finish was cracking, so since the switch needed replacement anyway, I decided to take it all teh way down and refinish it. It is stripped right now, and I need to scrape and sand the wood, and then refinish it. Any suggestions for what color scheme I should use?

My 360V64 JG is replete with an active two stage boost circuit and a whole bunch of other wiring circuit mods. The fifth knob is now a three position selector switch that turns on the pre-amp and allows you to select either a 10db or 20db increase in output.

There is also another mini switch that controls a treble boost circuit. My treble tone control has been replaced with a five way rotary switch that activates an onboard tone circuit.

So that leaves me with two volume controls and one tone control for both pickups. It's not a guitar for anyone who is a purist, but it is by far my favorite Rickenbacker since it is so versatile.

All of mine have been modified. I added a ham-fisted dumb klutz player to each of them.

I also modded another 3000 into a 5-string that looks like a FireGlo 620 with a humbucking pickup and Scaller tuners. I modded another one into a fretless JetGlo 4000 with a humbucker, gold hardware and black plastic. I also have a 230 guitar that now looks like a maple Laguna with HB2's in it that's not quite done yet. I'll have to take some pics this weekend to back it up.

The basses I intend to keep usually get some mods. Below is my '93 Cheyenne with a vol/vol/tone mod done by Jeff Rath. Then the same mod on a '97 Laredo Fireglo. The Monte 4003VP has a Hipshot bridge, "signature edition" Pickguardian pickguard and treble pickup surround, and the original white TRC painted to match the pickguard. Oh, vintage knobs, too.
