I have been using Chromes for about six moths now and am very pleased with them. I use the 45,65,80,100 gauge sets. Strangely on one of my Rics this feels a bit highly strung and would really like something with a bit less tension BUT about the same gauge of string. Any ideas?
I use TI round wounds on my ’72 and like those. Do the TI flats have a similar tone to the Chromes? Thing is I think the TI flats are quite a bit smaller on the gauge, is that right?
FW that are less tension than Chromes

The TIs do sound different having a bit of a hollow midrange tone to them. Try the lighter set of Chromes, you might decide they work for you okay.
The TIs are 43-56-70-100.
As you know I swap out the .060 D string in the Super Soft set of Chromes to come up with my 40-55-75-95 set. I think once you play with them for a while you may like the lighter set. Thinner guage strings produce truer overtones and harmonics than higher guage strings.
