Got Brand New 660/12 Today!
Yessir. My wife asked what guitar might be on the horizon with Father's Day and my birthday coming up. I said well.....I was thinking of trading in my 360/12V64 for a 660/12 since I really think I need the little extra neck width. But, I said, it's unlikely I'll find one easily and I really don't want to wait many months. So, I went to Classic Axe in Manassas, VA this afternoon and Russ had a brand spanking new 660/12 Fireglo that was never put out. It was manufactured in February 2006. Russ gave me a good trade in on my 1991 360/12V64 Jetglo (which I purchased from BobKat back in 1999) so I had to do it! It certainly is beautiful and plays easier for me than the 360 did although that was a fine example. What a great gift! It's time to go jangle.

Jon,
On behalf of Russ, it was good seeing you and talking to you earlier today at the shop. You've got a great 660/12 there. Now, all you need to do is post a couple of pics so everyone could see what a great guitar you got today. Jangle on!

I will try to get some pics going today. Eventually, I'll put them on my web link too.
Ron, thanks for the help and the encouragement at the store yesterday. Last night I played until my fingers couldn't take it anymore, mostly Beatles and Mike Nesmith stuff. Oddly, the first song out of it was Devil's Radio by George from Live in Japan. Sounded great with a 12.

Very nice Jon.
I am partial though to V64's. I like double bound 360 body style plus I don't need the extra wide neck.
You have a beautiful guitar there though and if it is more to your liking, then that's even better.

Thanks, Dan. There is some nice looking quilt. It's nicer than the FG 620 I have.
Brian, The V64 I had was a wonderful guitar but didn't get enough use because I was too lame. This one is easier for me but I agree with you that the V64 body style is beautiful and more comfortable for sit down playing. The 620/660 short horn kind of digs into the leg when sitting down.
Thanks, Dean. I hope you were pleased in dealing at Classic Axe as I was. I've been a customer of them since I got the Laney back in 1998.
James, that's a Laney VC30 112 that I got back in 1998. It's the closest I'll get to an expensive Vox AC30 or AC15. The Vox on the right side is a recent Cambridge 30 Twin Reverb that has been "fixed". I think the Laney sounds fine for me but I have listened to the expensive Voxes in the store and they have that extra something that the Laney doesn't have. It's plenty good enough for me.

Try using your hands. (JOKE) Don't beat me up I could not help myself.
Seriously though, I do understand that some people prefer the wider neck etc.
