Remember the '66 tune, "Black is Black?
Am I the only one who thought the singer sounded like Gene Pitney?

Certainly this track has the angst and a vocal tonality that approximates the Gene Pitney sound.

One big difference is that the singer in Los Bravos sang sharp all the way through the song. Peter is right about the angst and tonality though.

Another difference between the two is that Los Bravos had limited hits and paled in this respect to the number ones of Gene Pitney. The only other hit that I can recall by Los Bravos is "I Don't Care" but that was in the UK and perhaps Spain I suspect.

Thanks Roy. A great guitarist always makes the song for me. The tonality is very much in the fingers.

Even without the lyrics this melody works and I enjoyed Hank Marvin's interpretation with some nice rhythm work by Bruce Welsh as well. Bennett held his own on the drums to be sure.

I suspect we would be hard pressed to name the album titles of all the Shadows' releases. I had no idea that they did this one. As a contrast, did they do White Christmas as well?

You know after I posted my previous post I thought about it a little and think perhaps the sharp singing had something to do with the angst feeling that does come through on that song. It's the only one I've ever heard by them.

As opposed to the case of that clown who sang for The Cult...that's just plain singing sharp all the way through every song. Whenever I hear that guy, the angst is all mine...

I liked The Cult and never noticed him singing sharp. I'm a big Doors fan though and probably very forgiving when it comes to anyone else who is obviously a fan.
