A belated hello to all from a new guy

I just realized that most of you kind of introduce yourselves to each other. I just turned fifty in March. I've been playing bass since I was 14 or 15, I forget which, I switched to bass, my real love from guitar, which I started at 13. I played tuba and trumpet for the school band before that (loved the tuba, always loved bass) McCartney was my first bass inspiration. I have owned many basses in my time, most were Ric's, A conservative estimate of the Ric's I've owned is at least twenty. I currently own 6 ranging from a '72 Jetglo 4002FL to a 2001 Sea Mist Green 4003. I have used these basses for many different types of music, GB bands (desperate for money)blues, hard rock, rock 'n roll, country and others. I have just gotten married and am living in Lima Peru´ I can't wait to get back to the states and start playing live again. I knew that my stay here would be temporary so I brought one bass and no amp and haven't really checked out the music scene here much, although the bands that I have seen were very good. some Latin bands (obviously) and rock bands, one Beatle cover band, and on their 41st (?) anniversary, I saw The Lima Filharmonica (spelling? my Spanish is not very good) with some famous South American musicians do Beatle covers at one of the big stadiums here, it was great, they did almost the whole Abbey Road album. I did a lot of recording when I was young and ambitious, still do a little. I've played full time at times, did a lot of original bands, I've never played in a top 40 band, even the GB band was kind of a joke, we would see how much we could get away with and still keep the audience. I could go on and on (as those of you who have read some of my posts probably know) but I won't. When you're a viejo (old man, haha) you have lots of stories, I was this close in 1980! etc. but I will spare you,

Welcome Bobampeg. An interesting music history that is somewhat familiar. I played Tenor Sax before I moved on to guitar. Once you imprint on music at adolescence you are destined to have music in your life forever. Glad you been able to Peruse the music scene in Lima.

Ya gotta love that Irish sense of humor. And yeah,I feel like I was born with music, and I LOVE the tenor sax, I listen to a lot of Jazz, Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, (I saw him last year)and many others, I also love the old R&B tenor players from the early fifties, great instrument,if I were to start on another instrument (I play guitar also) I'd try to pick up the tenor sax. I fooled around with an alto for three months about ten years ago, I love how expressive saxes are, but school put an end to that. And to keep this in the Ric vein any plans for a Ric sax, haha?

Bob...Welcome aboard. You'll find a pretty helpful crew here. I've recieved immense help from the great people on this board and I think you'll enjoy the "business only" format that they've managed to maintain here....
