Where's Mark?

Setup, repair and restoration of Rickenbacker Instruments

I didn't mean to sound harsh. Mark is brilliant and has helped alot of us here, including myself. He's just got too much on his plate, and doesn't need to be concerned about people on a web board grumbling about his whereabouts.

Now, people waiting for their instruments; that's a different thing entirely.

At the bottom of the "Ask a Luthier" message list is a statement about Mark having agreed to be a consultant. He doesn't have the time to do this anymore. That's all I was trying to say.

I'll always respect Mark and appreciate what he's done for us.

In just 5 or 6 more days, it'll be 5 (FIVE) full months since Mark has addressed this board. It's close to being being considered a criminal act the way that he has treated myself and Andrew Spencer. There is no way in Hell that he can justify his actions. PERIOD.

Well, about 5 or 6 days ago marked the 1-year anniversary that I received an e-mail, saying that my guitar was FINISHED.

Subsequently, I was told it played and sounded quite good too! Golly, it would be a real *kick* for me to be able to know for myself...

People vanish all of the time, I did during the last half of last year. My wife lost a baby at 7 months in Feburary of last year, she had a hard time working through it, last fall was the worst. She was off work for 6 months, the ringers were turned off on the phones, the door didn't get answered, it was something else. I actually had friends trying to contact me to see if I was killed in a car crash or something. It didn't help that while all of this was going on, I was receiving over 2000 spam e-mails per day from daily web spiders loading http://www.beatlesgear.com into search engines. It really wasn't cool because it's kind of hard to answer an e-mail from a friend when it's buried in all of that ****. I always ended up telling people if they really needed to contact me, post on Vox Talks, chances are I would see it there because I still had to babysit the place at some level.

Arnquist reads these boards, he knows what is going on. He has dug a hole for himself and likely feels that he can't get out from all of the presser.

At this point the best thing for him to do would be just to send the stuff back to everybody. An action in good faith like that would likely help prevent the cops from showing up at his door in the future. The money that was paid up-front for those restorations is likely long gone, he'll have to work something out to pay it back at some point. There isn't any point in freaking over the money issue right now because that is likely a big part of why he hasn't called any of you guys, it just needs to be addressed when he returns your stuff.

I know all that John Williams wants his 4005 (finished or unfinished) back, if Arnquist put in a box on Monday and returned it with a note saying at what point in the future the funds would be returned, that would likely be a start. The same would be true for Andrew's guitar, just put it in a box and send it back.

Where have I been ....long story .

To shorten it ; Eldest daughter had twins , moved 75 miles north ...husband is not a help . Wife and I came to the rescue .
Youngest daughter went thru a drug rehab ... came clean ....that was at the same time ... June 2003 she is marrying a great guy (they are both clean).

Oct 2002 Father (79)after one year after his wife passing on ... not doing good ...he lives 1,500 miles from me and will not move near me .....he now lives in a community for retired folks with supervision .
Nov spent time with mother in law ...signs of altzheimers now appearing to be a real concern...wife is dealing with that .. I with her . She lives 1,100 miles away ..we are the nearest of any family to both of them ... how to deal with the money issue ...
I got an offer to help a Euorpean manufacturer and I did just that .... phase one is complete ..I return this fall and then there will be more fun after that . It was worth it .

Why am I missing from answering questions after th enew year .... nine weeks of viral pneumonia for one and a tremendous back log , the firing of employees ... stress ....

Igot bogged down and felt like I could not get out .

I have never bugged JH about where is the C series ... I understand all too well that things happen that are unexpected ... what a headache .

Well I am returning to 'normal' but also find that I have more than covered old Ricks ... the new stuff is something that JH should cover ... I don't know what he does and have no inside info as to what does go on . HE DOES ... so ask him .

But , if you want to know some thing that does not get the answer that you think it should .. you can email me , ask Peter ...or well live with it .

I have enjoyed helping lots of players with their guitars .
Reach for the best in all things , make what is good better ... don't get locked into ...100% stock is correct , needs change , players change , and so do styles .
I started out a guy with a chord chart ... playing simple songs ... I graduated to other things .

Play on , and have fun , with out fun ... what are we doing ?????
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
