>>> Given to boasting, loud of mouth and attire, fond of put-downs, etc.

he and John must have made quite a scene back in old Hamburg.

I've seen some old footage of Sheridan playing on BBC or maybe German TV and he was, for the time, wailing. Don't you think the solo on My Bonnie is too notey and a bit too advanced for George? Plus, I thought he got the Duojet in '62 or the end of '61 - which would put these sessions squarely in the Futurama era.

Yeah, the Ric stands out like crazy.

My thoughts exactly. I din't know "Cry for a Shadow" was a Sheridan song...Did he play the lead on it? I had always thought that was George for sure.

"Cry for a Shadow" was just the Beatles... no Sheridan input.

The date of the recording session that produced My Bonnie is somewhat in doubt, but it was likely early summer '61 or ..... "the more recent report of June 22-24, based on a session document Mark Lewisohn has seen"

... that was just after George bought the second hand DuoJet, which is generally described as being in "early 1961".

Yup, it was right around the time of the 'My Bonnie' Session that George got his Duo Jet...

George is wearing that Duo Jet dangerously close to Jerry Marsden territory.

if Jerry Marsden held his guitar any higher he'd choke to death.

No Doubt "Cry for a Shadow" is George. Still doesn't sound like the duo jet to me. After another listen to "My Bonnie" I just don't buy that it's George on lead. Tone is wrong, style is just too manic...

Oh well....

" The record of 'My Bonnie' you asked about goes like this: When Tony [Sheridan] sings, then it's me playing lead, but the break in the middle is Tony playing. The shouting in the background is Paul (George Harrison. Letter dated 17th of May 1962)"
found in p. 14 'The Beatles with Tony Sheridan beatles bop - hamburg days' by Hans Olof Gottfidsson
ISBN: 3-89795-805-8 Germany
the book to the CD from Bear Family Records, Germany (ca. 2004)

As far as I know George used the Futurama. My Bonnie, Recorded 22./23. June 1961
